The Perfection of Marketing by James Connor--Ranked Top New Podcast in iTunes

The Perfection of Marketing Podcast by James Connor Ranked Top New Podcast on iTunes

November 18, 2008 (New York, NY) Audio excerpts from the new marketing book, The Perfection of Marketing by James Connor edged other podcasts to become the number one podcast on Apple’s iTunes’s new and notable Management and Marketing section. Additionally The Perfection of Marketing podcast is currently ranked #3 on the new and notable Business section of iTunes between Bloomberg News, BBC, and The New York Times.

So why is this independent podcast catching on in an arena recently dominated by large networks? The answer may be found in the audience and user reviews The Perfection of Marketing podcast is gathering. Reviews from mostly small business owners describe James Connor as being able to cut through all the marketing jargon and useless information to focus on the key practical ideas that small business owners can actually use immediately.

While many of major news channels are dominated by reports of financial woes of large U.S. companies, most have forgotten two important facts: businesses with fewer than 500 employees represent 99.9 percent of the 27.2 million businesses in America.1 And businesses with fewer than 20 employees are 65% of the companies in America.2 These are the companies that will have save the United States from a long recession.

The Perfection of Marketing podcast appears to be touching a nerve with small and midsized business owners with the entrepreneurial courage to grow their businesses in challenging times. This podcast’s success shows the promise of the podcast medium to bring independent voices to the forefront, even in business.

From TheHolisticOption.com--Flu Trends Predicts, But Offers Only Vaccination As Prevention

Google's Flu Tracker May Be Effective, But Promoting Mass Vaccination Does More Harm Than Good

by Kelly L Campbell

As described on it's website, Google.org is a hybrid philanthropy that aspires to use the power of information and technology to address the global challenges of our age: climate change, poverty and emerging disease. 'Flu Trends' is the latest in Google.org's prediction and prevention tools.

In a CNN report, Elizabeth Landau explains that "If you have a fever, headache and runny nose, you might go to Google and type the words "flu symptoms" to see whether you've come down with influenza. Google knows that you might do something like that, and it also knows which U.S. state you're in. Now, it's putting that information together in a tool that Google – [now ten years old] – says could detect flu outbreaks faster than traditional systems currently in use. Flu Trends, looks at the relative popularity of a slew of flu-related search terms to determine where in the U.S. flu outbreaks may be occurring."

The traditional measure of the spread of influenza has involved physicians' reports of patients with flu-like symptoms, lab reports of confirmed influenza cases, as well as death certificates.

"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention collaborated with Google on the project, helping validate and refine the model, and has provided flu tracking data over a five-year period", said Dr. Joseph Bresee, chief of the epidemiology and prevention branch in the CDC's influenza division.

The idea seems ingenious, but there are obvious limitations to the tool at this point. Dr. Randall Stafford, associate professor of medicine at Stanford University's Prevention Research Center, (who was not involved in the project) agrees. "The tool may miss cases of influenza spreading among elderly people, because they are less likely to use the Internet than younger people", Stafford said. [In addition], many people who search for flu-related terms have viral infections that are not actually influenza." Or if someone were simply writing an article about influenza or vaccination and used Google for research, that data may be included as well.

The bigger issue that is not being written about in the mainstream media is that Google's collaboration with the CDC may prove to be harmful to healthy people who do not necessarily need influenza vaccinations (flu shots). When visiting Google's Flu Trends, one needs only to look at the right column of the page which provides the CDC's logo, a link to its website and a definition of influenza – which would be enough to scare anyone into thinking that they absolutely needed a flu shot. Upon visiting the site again (or simply refreshing the page), the CDC's definition becomes a recommendation for prevention, entitled 'First Step: Flu Vaccine'. So, Google provides a 'Flu Shot Locator' – sourced from the American Lung Association – which allows you to find a location where you can get vaccinated within 5 miles of your home or work.

As convenient as that sounds, there is no mention of the populations that are at higher risk due to weakened immune systems. No mention of natural preventative measures that can keep those with healthy immune systems healthy. No mention of the toxic chemicals and materials that are the ingredients in flu shots. And no mention of the risks of – and diseases associated with – getting the influenza vaccine. The truth is that mass vaccination is great for big pharma business. And it becomes a win-win situation for the conventional medical industry when the government subsidizes the pharmaceutical companies to provide vaccinations for every man, woman and child, AND, for those who end up getting sick from the annual shot – whether short term/acute or long-term/chronic conditions – it translates into more business for doctors.

Online resources, such as TheHolisticOption.com, provide a plethora of information on the flu shot debate, as well as natural remedies and preventative measures that people can take to strengthen their immune systems, especially during flu season. Should they decide for themselves that the health risks associated with getting vaccinated greatly outweigh the chances that the flu shot will actually protect them against the three most probably strains, there are many xxxx. A recent article, The Yearly Flu Shot Debate, by Dr. Christine Gonzalez, Integrative Pharmacist and Certified Health Coach, reads "With so much controversy in the press regarding the link between mercury in vaccines and neurotoxicity (autism and Alzheimer’s disease), no wonder people are concerned and confused. While the benefit of flu vaccination for groups at high-risk for serious flu complications is well established, the actual benefit versus potential risk for the average healthy adult is highly debated. Some of the main issues on the table surround the effectiveness of the flu vaccine and the safety of additives used in some of the formulations. Not surprisingly, the importance of proper self-care and immune support as a means to stay flu-free is often overlooked."

In an effort to educate the American public and help create a more informed, empowered society, TheHolisticOption.com published a comprehensive listing of the health risks associated with vaccine ingredients – ingredients which can be found on the CDC's website and on WAVE's website (World Association for Vaccine Education) – entitled 'What's in a Vaccine or Flu Shot?'.

Since Google has now established itself as the most influential search engine in the world, used by millions of people daily, doesn't it have a responsibility, at the very least, to provide information on both traditional and natural preventions for the flu its predicting? With a decision as important as getting a flu shot, the go-to search engine's Flu Trends should be as comprehensive in presenting information as, say, the search engine itself.

And of course, how could we forget to mention In No Particular Order. This show was never meant to be a show. As podcasting and Web 2.0 began to creep their way into our daily work lives, Chuck and I figured we better hone our production skills. So, every Saturday morning, when we could be reasonably certain the phone wouldn't ring too much, we'd consume near-lethal doses of caffeine, fire up the Garage Band on Chuck's MacBook and talk shit for a while. We even managed to squeak some music in as well. Now...38 shows later, we somehow snagged a sponsor (GoToMeeting) and have cultivated a big 'ol international following of crazies who refer to themselves as "INPO-sters". Learn about what we do during the week at www.bullseyepr.com. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO INPO IN iTUNES AND HERE TO LISTEN ON YOUR DESKTOP BECAUSE YOU STILL DON'T HAVE AN iTUNES ACCOUNT.

In No Particular Order, Episode 38—“O–My-God-bama”. We did some cool stuff here over the past week, including the launch of a new podcast of The Perfection of Marketing by James Connor. Give a listen and leave a review in iTunes. We also produced a cool video response to those insane TV spots being run by the Corn Refiners Association about the facts surrounding High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). Please share this movie with your friends or anyone you’d like to see not be fat and sick. Chuck recounts memories of bloody ice skating fiascos. Some new podcasts we like include—Common Sense with Dan Carlin, How to Get Stuff Done, The Onion News Network, 60 Minutes, and of course all the shows we produce. Listener mail came pouring in once again. This week, everyone wanted to know about snooker, so our UK correspondent, Robin Rhind chimes in. Mr. Rhind, as it so happens to be, does not reside in Woking, but rather from some other place that we refuse to disclose. Woking, however, is indeed a place in England. No thanks to Chuck, we have new president and he’s got plenty of work to do. Great music this week from some old friends including Zach Ziegler, who would like you to learn all about Polycystic Kidney Disease. Also great music from Mod-est Lads and Ted Wilson. Check out Ted’s blog, which is one of our favorite music review sites on the web. Keep those emails coming and send your audio rants to studio@inpocast.com.

In No Particular Order, Episode 37- "The Dust Bowl"

A podcast by two guys who are absolute authorities on absolutely nothing wax poetic about random topics pulled from Chuck's hat (this week it’s John’s hat). Occasional guest rants and Podsafe music.

This episode is brought to you by GoToMeeting. Try GotoMeeting free for 30 days! For this special offer, visit www.gotomeeting.com/podcast

In No Particular Order, Episode 37—“The Dust Bowl”. Another Halloween has come and gone. Chuck and John report on their trip to Blood Manor, NYC’s premier haunted house experience. Apparently in the 1930’s there was lots of dust. Who knew? Chuck talks about a new (at least new to him) fetish known as “Plushophilia”. These “Plushies” or “people who bang each other in furry mascot suits”, are a terrible threat to our national security and must be dealt with. We are sick of talking about the upcoming election, so this week’s political rant comes from our new UK correspondent, Robin Rhind. Don’t forget to send us your submission for the “Land of the Lost Essay Contest” (50 words or less). Keep your emails coming. Send us your audio rants.

INPO Listeners Voice Their Disdain For Chuck's Refusal To Vote

For months, John has been telling Chuck that every vote counts. Did he listen?

Author James Connor Selects BullsEye Public Relations

James Connor, author of The Perfection of Marketing (Diamond Cutter Press), has retained New York City-based BullsEye Public Relations as the agency of record (AOR) to promote the new book through an aggressive media relations campaign, public speaking schedule, and audio podcast, which will give listeners an opportunity to sample the book’s first four chapters free of charge.

With The Perfection of Marketing, Connor has crafted an extremely efficient process based on what he calls “The Sales Moment” to create a method anyone can implement for spectacular marketing results. BullsEye Co-founder and President John Rarrick said the agency will also implement an audio and video viral campaign to drive traffic to the newly- launched site, www.perfectionofmarketing.com. There, for a limited time before the retail launch, executives can purchase three books for the price of one in an exclusive Management Team Package of The Perfection of Marketing. The book will be available at all major book retailers, including Barnes and Nobel and Amazon.com, in January 2009.

The Holistic Option: MySpace meets WebMD for the holistically-minded

Posted by Colette Cope October 17, 2008 09:44AM

I recently learned about a great new resource on the Web called The Holistic Option. This site is like WebMD but covers holistic, alternative and integrative medicine.

An abundance of free information is available on this site. You can start by learning more about alternative treatments that you may be curious about like acupuncture, aromatherapy, biofeedback and more. The content is provided in collaboration with professional associations, licensed practitioners and experts in the field of holistic medicine.

You can also search for natural remedies for medical conditions. Simply select the condition you are interested in, and you will be given a list of natural herbal and nutritional supplements suggestions, as well as preventative tips.

It's been my experience, especially in the midstate, that holistic practitioner are hard to find. So the "find a practitioner" tool is very useful. Simply choose the modality that you want and enter your location. Every practitioner listed on the site must submit an application that is screened by the site's advisory board.

If you are actually hoping to become practitioner yourself, there is also a directory where you can find schools near you.

My favorite parts of the site, though, are the podcast and featured articles, videos and blogs. There is a wealth of information here ranging from pumpkin seeds' nutritional value to hormones in our milk to whether or not you should give your child a flu shot.

If you like the sense of community on social networking sites, you can also become a member for free, create a profile and discuss holistic remedies on the forums. You also have the opportunity to write about your personal experience with any of the natural remedies that are recommended.

The site currently has 50 practitioners in their director, recognition from 18 professional associations, new advisory board members being added each month and 65+ new subscribers to the podcast daily. They've accomplished all of this since their launch in April 2008. Clearly it's a growing community that I look forward to being a part of.

Chuck has a man-crush on Steve Earle. Comedy shows are good. Children—yes, yes, and two. John reminisces about The Land of the Lost with savant-like detail. Jim DeMaria, host of The Nurses Station podcast, chimes in on the treatment of Jai-Alai injuries. John tried to drown his father-in-law. Chuck heard a good GoToMeeting tip on Grammar Girl and TWIT.

The Bailout Made Easy

Once upon a time a man appeared in a village and announced to the
villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each.

The villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out
to the forest and started catching them.

The man bought thousands at $10 and, as supply started to diminish,
the villagers stopped their effort. He next announced that he would
now buy monkeys at $20 each. This renewed the efforts of the villagers
and they started catching monkeys again.

Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back
to their farms. The offer increased to $25 each and the supply of
monkeys became so scarce it was an effort to even find a monkey, let
alone catch it!

The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $50 each! However,
since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would
buy on his behalf.
In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers: "Look at
all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has already collected.
I will sell them to you at $35 an d when the man returns from the city,
you can sell them to him for $50 each."

The villagers rounded up all their savings and bought all the monkeys
for 700 billion dollars.

They never saw the man or his assistant again, only lots and lots of
monkeys!

Now you have a better understanding of how the WALL STREET BAILOUT
PLAN WILL WORK !!!!

New Album from The Lost Patrol Coming in October!

Here's a band John and Chuck think you need to hear.

Midnight MatinĂ©e is The Lost Patrol’s seventh proper release and will be available for human consumption in early October. Like all TLP CDs, you can expect the usual fare of ethereal, twangy goodness with dark twists and turns that distinguish this release from its predecessors. MatinĂ©e’s vocals are delivered by newcomer extraordinaire, Mollie Israel, who joined the band in early 2008. The format will be a gorgeous six panel digipak created by the band’s own Michael Williams. Downloads will be available at iTunes and all other astute purveyors of digital music.

The first 50 CDs will be autographed by the band and sold directly through its management. Please indicate “MM50” in the subject line of your email - and there will be a limit of three (3) CDs per person. Subsequent purchases should be made through CDBABY, and the various other channels of distribution.

We hope to have the band on the show in October to talk about this great new CD.

No Soup Nazi for you (but famous soup coming to Windsor)

Sharon Hill, The Windsor StarPublished: Wednesday, September 24, 2008The Soup Nazi isn't coming but Windsor is getting Ontario's first Original SoupMan, a franchise based on the soups of Al Yeganeh, the real-life New York soup seller."You're not required to have your money out. You're not required to know what you're going to order or anything, and nobody's going to say 'No soup for you!'" Damiano DeMonte of BullsEye Public Relations said Wednesday.Windsor developer Murray Troup of Banwell Development Corporation, Denise Parent, also of Banwell Development Corporation and restaurant owner John Fuerth plan to open the Original SoupMan at the Devonshire Mall before the end of October, DeMonte said Wednesday. A spokesperson from that group wasn't available for an interview Wednesday.Seinfield's Soup Nazi, played by Larry Thomas, and his famous "No soup for you!" line was based on a restaurant started in 1984 in New York city called Soup Kitchen International. That restaurant, which was run by Yeganeh later closed but the Original SoupMan is based on Yeganeh's 50 varieties of soups including his lobster bisque. DeMonte said there are 35 locations in the United States. Other Original SoupMan restaurants that opened in Canada have since closed so the business run by the new Windsor group will become the only one in Canada.DeMonte said Yeganeh may come to the October opening but don't expect the actor who played the Soup Nazi. DeMonte said Yeganeh only had rules for ordering because he had to feed long lineups of people quickly."Al (Yeganeh) tends to believe that he made Seinfield famous... as opposed to the other way around," DeMonte said.As in Yeganeh's original restaurant, the soups are served with a piece of fresh crusty baguette, fresh fruit and a piece of imported chocolate. DeMonte said the American locations sell most soups for between $4.95 and $6.95 US and specialty soups such as lobster bisque go for about $8.95. Original SoupMan is also looking at a line of organic soups.During the Windsor location's grand opening, one customer will get a chance to win free soup every day for life. The Original SoupMan is also planning to donate $1,500 on behalf of Yeganeh's charity, Al's Feed the Hungry Foundation, to the Windsor and Essex County Food Bank of the Ontario Association of Food Banks. The foundation is headed up by baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson.
